Talk about a guy that loves his work so much, he has a desk made out of it. Stan Garchinski is the Sales Manager at SMP in Saskatoon, and he just took delivery of this 1956 Chevy Desk....Yes...its a desk...he had a guy working on this beauty for the past 3 years, taking the front of an actual car, and converting it to a true classic work station.

What makes my job so wonderful.

We were all shocked and saddened this morning to hear the news of the passing of  Ron Lancaster. Ronnie seemed like one of those guys who we would never lose, he would just keep going forever, and you know, his story, his legacy, his impact on our province, our team and our lives means that he will live on. For me, I have memories of being a junior reporter in Regina and being so intimidated by the Little General upon my first meeting him, but I soon got over that after realizing what an ordinary, genuine man he was.

This past Friday was one of those days that will live in my radio memory banks for a long, long time. I auctioned off a pair of front row seats for tonights soldout Elton John concert at Credit Union Center. I went into the auction with no idea how much we would make, but I had heard stories of people paying upwards of 2000 dollars for similar tickets. Well, to say I was blown away would be an understatement. In the course of an hour, we had 16 different people phone in bids with the first one being 250 dollars.

Help for Haiti

This morning, I spoke with Jacee Boldt, a 27 year old Saskatoon woman who is working with the poor in Haiti, about the damage caused there by Hurricane Ike. Haiti is about the most destitute country in the Western Hemisphere and to suffer the wrath of Ike, the situation is incredibly bad. You can help by making a donation to the  Red Cross or  Danitas Children, the orphanage where Jacee works.
