I'm sure if I were to look through all the boxes I have collected over more than 30 years in radio, I could find some Michael Jackson 45's and maybe a poster or two. However for me, my best memories of Michael Jackson were seeing how much my youngest son just loved the music and the moves of MJ. My son, often the brunt of much family joking, was a true fan at the age of 8, not only having the music and posters, but also the famous moonwalk moves that Michael made famous. I know the man led a bizarre life and I'm sure the jokes and dark humor will now follow. But much like Elvis, I just want to remember the music, the energy, the talent of Michael Jackson...and how my boy, now nearly 30, could put a smile on our faces by emulating his pop music hero of the day. I'm sure a lot of families have similar memories.....RIP MJ.

Well said. This is a time
Well said. This is a time to remember the good things about a man who was a part of music history. Let the rest go & him in peace.
Jackson & Fawcett
I keep hearing how Fawcett was a great actress. She was third rate and Charlies Angels was dreadful. I wish everyone in the media would stop calling Jackson the king of pop. Do some research on how this name came to be. Besides, nobody in real life says king of pop, they say his name. Come to think of it, the media never use a real name. Its the material girl, the boss, the queen of soul, and on and on it goes. Stop already. I say again, real people don't use these idiotic terms. Why do media types insist on using them. It makes you sound silly.
Oh yah. Compared to the Beatles, what song or albmum did Jackson ever record that changed the face of music. And don't gimme thriller. Just because something sells well does not mean it was a music groundbreaker. Yep, you're right. He didn't release any songs or albums that changed anything. Read your history books. Almost every known musical concept today was first introduced by the Beatles. I'm not making it up. It's a fact. Look it up.
lol
I wouldn't disagree with you on the Beatles, but I think you're the one who needs to read more about music before commenting. Even discounting sales, Thriller especially was a groundbreaking album that combined elements of many different genres and reinvigorated the entire recording industry. It also got black people on MTV, something they refused to do before being confronted with Jackson's music and star power. The Beatles were totally influential in so many ways, and more than Jackson --- but they were far from inventing "every known musical concept." That throws out all the music through all history from every country. I think the Beatles themselves would scoff at your comment. They had their own influences just like anyone else.
I have to agree with the
I have to agree with the first comment that Jackson never released anything that was ground breaking. He was more of a showmanship than a realy true artist. As for the reply, I have a book in my mits at this very minute, the Rolling Stone History of Rock and Roll. It says basically, what the first person said, almost all music today (except that awful rap and dance stuff) has it's origin with the Beatles. This does not mean just what you hear, but how it was recorded. The basic concept of sophisticated recording began with them. End of story. I also don't believe the Beatles would scoff at this statement. They did it so why would they. Variety Magazine, the bible of the entertainment industry, ranked the Beatles first appearance on Ed Sullivan as the greatest entertainment event of the 20th century. This in itself might be puzzling. But it was the beginning of the greatest revolution in music history, bar none. Jackson will be remembered for Thriller, wackiness and moon dancing. Sorry, dancing does not make somebody a great artist. My dog can dance.
I guess Micheal Jackson is
I guess Micheal Jackson is the most celebrated pediphile of our time. Shouldn't this be remembered?
I love that you ASSUME he
I love that you ASSUME he was a pedifile! Get off it! People used him for money! Can't you see that? If not, you clearly are uneducated!
It would be so easy to take advantage of someone so famous and someone involved with helping children because he had so much money.
This guy was an icon. He invented pop (and what the kids now call pop). There is no one like him in the pop industry or any other industry today. Those that think he did what the "tabloids" say did, are just jelous of him and what he made of himself.
Thriller, Beat It, Billy Jean.... I can't think of a childhood memory without these songs.
Those that call him down do not need to reply to these blogs..if they do it's because they feel something for him or are just jelous of how he made them feel ;-)
R.I.P Michael. Love you so much for all the memories you have given me and my family and friends. You are forever in my heart and I'll continue to listen to all your work.
I love that you ASSUME he
I love that you ASSUME he isnt a pedophile, think about it i find it quite strange that he had young kids in his room and bed and never wanted to be interupted while these kids were in his room, now im not saying 100% that he did any of this but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, good chance its a duck. I mean after all O.J wasnt found guilty either but yet the public already had him guilty so the way i see it is the community in where Micheal lived is safer now regardless of how talented he was. you say its because of his money that people took advantage of him, i say its because of his money that he was not convicted.
Was great.
Michael Jackson WAS a great singing icon. His musical career died over 15 years ago. Still, most unfortunate as it would have been interesting to see how the future tour would go.
I think my 5 year old grand
I think my 5 year old grand daughter summed it up pretty well when she saw a picture of Mikey on the news. "He looks evil". I wonder if they did a dna test on the remains to see if it was really him, you could not make a definite ID from looking at him.
