Okay...okay....I'm a lousy photographer. I've been talking about this bird thats been hanging around the trees near the radio station this summer. I have never seen one like it and I'm curious as to what kind of bird it is. Its about the size of a robin, but not as puffy. From the back, it appears black..but from the front, it has a white chest, and some dusty orange color on its shoulder and under the wings. There are two of these and the coloring on one is not so vivid. They are quite active, jumping through the trees and on the power lines. When they fly, their tail feathers fan out and have white tips on the outer tail feathers. I got a couple quick shots with my camera before it flew the coop...hopefully I can get a better one soon. Any ideas as to what this bird is???

looks like a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak

Mystery Bird

My guess is that it is a Rufous-sided Towhee.

Hi guys. The bird in

Hi guys. The bird in question is in fact a Spotted Towhee. The only Towhee species we actually get in the Saskatoon area.

I'm a wildlife photographer based here in the city. Scroll down to the very bottom of my blog for a photo of this bird
