Prison Break : You ALL Have Failed

It seems everyone who should be sharing responsibility for the Regina prison break (and the ensuing inaction to inform the public about it) has their pointer fingers out blaming each other.  It is worse than an episode of the Keystone Cops.

To the Minister of Public Safety : you have failed.  You (and your office) believed it was good enough to follow procedure and protocol, and rely on the RCMP to get the information out in a timely manner.  This is simply not good enough.

This week we will see the spotlight of the world's media turned from a communist republic to a seemingly democratic country divided in to red and blue states.  The ball finally gets rolling in earnest on what can hopefully be an end to eight years of "us versus them" / "you're with us or against us" / "morally self-righteous versus liberal" thinking.

Not much need for commentary here...

Spotted in the wild at a neighbourhood bookstore last night.

Thinnest issue of Newsweek... ever.

John Himpe is Program Director of News Talk Radio... and is counting backwards to January 20, 2009.

Finding Inspiration on The Idiot Box

I have a thing for inspirational television.

No... not the kind with bombastic quoting of scripture and where a mascara-laden southern belle pours her heart out singing Amazing Grace.

I have a thing for secular inspirational television.  The type of TV that gives me hope in the human condition.

Shows like Extreme Makeover - Home Edition, and choice episodes of Oprah can leave me a blubbering mess.

Memo to Saskatoon Drivers : You Don't Know What You're Doing

I'm quickly finding that this is becoming my "thing".  You know... Gormley's got time change... Wood has gun control...

My "thing"... bad drivers.

Since moving from Regina to Saskatoon in November, I have experienced enough on the roads of the Bridge City to declare with grand authority:  Saskatoon has the worst drivers I've seen anywhere.  Period.
