I really hate to be Grinchly.

And I don't want to be the guy who craps on his neighbours.

But... just down the street from me... some guy has his house decked out in Christmas lights.

It's still more than 4 months until Christmas Day... and he has his lights up and on.

But that's not all.  While wandering through Costco the other day... what to my wondering eye should appear?  A giant toy soldier that is actually TALLER than me.

And... if that wasn't bad enough... the Sears Wishbook arrived on doorsteps LAST month!

Really.  Is it just me... or is it way too early to be thinking about mistletoe and lots of snow and Rudolph?

Maybe... just maybe... we could get through being filled with turkey (Thanksgiving), scarred (Election Day), scared (Halloween), relieved (US Election Day) and respectful (Remembrance Day) BEFORE everyone starts trotting out Christmas?

PS - Since we're talking Christmas this early... a quick request to Santa.  For all the knobs who were chucking cans at the BC Lions on Saturday... please -- drop them off a lump of coal.  And for the loo-hoo-hoooo-sers who tried to justify the action by saying a member of the Lions threw something at them first... well... you don't possibly have any scholarships you could give these winners to go back and take kindergarten all over again, do you?

Christmas too early?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have ALWAYS been disturbed by the lack of respect given our soldiers by allowing any type of Christmas "action" to take place prior to November 11! Never mind that there are the other holidays and special events you mention that come before Christmas. This is just one example of our society's trend toward a disrespectful society in general!

"Christmas too early?" - you

"Christmas too early?" - you are incredibly insensitive! I have ALWAYS been disturbed by the lack of respect given our soldiers by allowing any type of C*******s "words" to be written or spoken prior to November 11! Never mind that there are the other holidays and special events you mention that come before C*******s. This is just one example of our society's trend toward a disrespectful society in general!

Now, please explain to me how early C*******s lights disrespect the honour of our fallen soldiers? Do you see lights on houses and suffer some unexplainable medical phenomenon that causes you to forget everything you know about our veterans? I hope you seek help for your problem.

Christmas

This is the first time in ten years that I do not work in the retail sector, and with Christmas coming I couldn't be more happier. Last year the company I worked for started decorating for the "holiday season" (Christmas, is technically a swear word in retail), November 1st. I agree with Christmas Too Early that we should wait until after Rememberance Day, before we bring out the "Seasonal" decorations.
