CTV kicked off yet another season of Canadian Idol last night. Why is this show still on? Why won't it just die already? Really, I'd like to turn on the TV some night and see something other than a lame singing competition, an equally lame D-list dancing show, or "The Moment of Truth" (don't even get me started on THAT one). What a bunch of crap!

Are the Idol ratings really good enough to bring it back again? Are there enough people out there with nothing better to do than watch a bunch of amateur singers compete for votes and a title that means very little - and seems to carry a stigma for the winners? No thank you. I'd rather read a book, learn a new recipie or catch up on some laundry. Heck, I'd rather clean the litter box than suffer through an episode of Idol - Canadian or American.

I was a little ticked off (just defensive of my home province) when Idol decided to skip Saskatchewan during its auditions, but mostly I thought: "Good riddance! Go away and never come back."

I just wish they skipped the rest of the provinces too.

We have the power - quit watching, quit paying.

Excellent comment from leo. Next step: cancel cable and quit paying the supplier of this digressing medium.

I'm torn. On the one hand,

I'm torn. On the one hand, this is a great way to showcase and promote new Canadian talent, maybe give a chance to those who might not get one otherwise (Theresa Sokyrka in point). On the other hand I was so disgusted when that second-rate hobbit won I haven't watched it since.
