If you heard me this morning chatting with Alex Docking and Tampa Bay Wray Morrison, I told you I just had this feeling that Toronto would not be the cakewalk that many thought and that it wouldn't surprise me if they lost. They just about did and really---they should have!!! When one quarterback throws 5 TD's and the other quarterback throws 4 INT's, I would lean towards the QB that threw the 5 TD's to win but NO!!!
Who on the Argos coaching staff is responsible for the brain cramp of all brain cramps. Running a fake punt at your own 40 on 3rd and 9 in a tie game with less than 2 minutes to play. That is either A)extreme stupidity or B)someone who thinks he has king size onions---I'll take A. That decision is simply inexplicable. Had Ken Miller done that, both he and Alex Smith would not be allowed back on Saskatchewan soil anytime soon. That being said, what the h-e double hockey sticks are the Riders doing throwing the ball in the final seconds when they are in Luca Congi field goal range. This from a quarterback who threw four interceptions on the night. WTF??? I can only imagine what Wally Buono and the BC Lions were thinking as they watched this game in Vancouver. Guess what Wally, I get the feeling you are coming to Regina for another game. (Remember those fans sitting behind you now drink their beer in plastic cups!!)
A win is a win and this is a character win for the Riders because as bad as they were they found a way to get the two points----yes that win was giftwrapped but it was a win and that is what matters. Why Michael Bishop was still in the football game after throwing four INT's is something Ken Miller needs to answer especially after giving the hook to Darian Durant and Steven Jyles the past two weeks and I'm sure he will like it or not when the team returns to Regina. He must be sitting back and while proud of his team for yet another 4th quarter comeback. he must also know that deep down that he was taken off the hook bigtime thanks to Don Matthews or whoever (BTW: Will we see Matthews back in 2009 or does he ride back into the sunset??). If this team hosts a playoff game or goes to the Grey Cup, many will talk about this one the way they talked about the Rain Bowl in 2007. It was one that won't be forgotten anytime soon.
What were your thoughts on this one and what's your feelings about this team as they either head to Vancouver or prepare to host the Lions. You know I want to know.

The Bizarre Bowl
That was as wild a finish as I have ever seen. I wasn't suprised when Coach Ken kept Bishop on the field for the start of the second half, but i was surprised when he kept him in after the 3rd and 4th interceptions of the game. But Micheal Bishop was a main reason why we won the game as well. Kerry Joseph deserved a better fate than he got tonight and that's for sure.
The entire Toronto coaching staff may be looking for work very soon, and it would seem to me that if Edmonton loses to Winnipeg in the "Eastern": semifinal, than Steve Burrato would be a good head coach for the Eskimoes.
And Wally and the gang from the left coast had better buckle up for a fun trip to Regina next week.
some of the interceptions
some of the interceptions wernt his fault miller needed bishop to step up and be the guy tonight was the night he did just that
Since when did Nealon Greene
Since when did Nealon Greene and Danny Barrett come back to the riders? Oh wait that was Ken Miller and Michael Bishop. It's obvious who Miller wants as his starting qb. In the first half of the season Miller was making all the right calls, in the last half he has made all the wrong calls. He says he wants a qb that doesn't give the ball up, so he leaves Bishop in after 4 ints? This makes as much sense as pulling him after a quarter with one int! It was a miracle they won this game with quarterbacking and coaching like that. Good news is Bishop usually has a great game after his bad ones, bad news is he has a bad game after his good ones.
4 int!!!
Miller has made a huge mistake in my books. If you say 2 int and your out then stick to it. It was pure luck that we won that game; no thanks to poor coaching and QB. I don't know what has went on between Durant and Miller but they both need to get over it. Especially Miller act like a coach! You should be there for the team not Bishop. Bishop can have a good game at times but he is very inconsistent. Hope everyone gets a good look at things before going into play offs.
OMG!!!
One of the things that have always bored me about the NFL is the defensive nature of the league. It's like watching 1-0 hockey games, night after night, week after week. Having admitted that, one of the aspects of the Riders that I admire most is their defence. Our defence is critical to a team that seems to score JUST ENOUGH POINTS TO WIN. So, how is that, with 6 interceptions in the last two games, we still score 90 points?? And when was the last time a CFL team ran for SIX TD's??
What would a Rider season be without the huge roller coaster of emotions that we all seem to go through, week after week? It seems the only calm season I have ever experienced in my half century as a Rider fan was last year. I guess that was it and we’re back to the nail-biting, heart-stopping, mind-blowing games. And maybe that is part of the chemistry that makes us love out team.
Last year, Kent Austin brought calmness to the team and to the games. Sure, we still only ever scored JUST ENOUGH POINTS TO WIN, but it seemed controlled and measured and reasonable. Could it be that in the CFL you need the wild, frantic, confusing elements to make us happy or maybe happier?
I’m going to stick by my prediction that, unless we win it all, Miller and Bishop won’t be back next season. You can’t tell the world that protecting the ball is your key factor in leaving a QB in the game and then leave Bishop in after 4 interceptions. Miller will have to come up with a new line.
If BC beats the Stamps, they will then beat us at BC Place. Bishop will be sacked 3 or 4 times, fumble a couple and have an interception or two. When he is replaced with Jyles or Durant, it will be too little, too late.
If BC loses to the Stamps, we will beat BC at Mosaic. Bishop will be sacked 3 or 4 times, fumble a couple and have an interception or two. When he is replaced with Jyles or Durant, one or both of them will stage a 4th quarter comeback that leaves us sweaty and exhausted. We will go on to beat the Stamps and lose to Montreal in the Grey Cup.
I love this team!
This is the best piece of
This is the best piece of written work I have ever read about the Riders and it spot on!
Riders season is over. It's just not official yet.
If anybody thinks a team can beat BC, Calgary and Montreal in consecutive weeks with Michael Bishop at QB they're fooling themselves. The QB position was always this team's fatal flaw. It's only a matter of time before it kills them.
Riders & TSN
Hooray for Riders however they win!!!
But that TSN group has to be put down......
During the entire game toronto this toronto that, during the 4th quarter my wife and I, and she is not an avid sports fan, couldn't believe the play by play. We thought we were listening to a Mike O'
shea retirement party. This is really getting stupid, thanks god the Argos aren't in the playoffs!!!. But it will be BC this and Burris that anyways, right!!!!
Good Ole CFL
Bush League football . Would not want it any other way !
Wild Game
Credit the guys for sticking in this game, especially considering the short break between games (come on CFL you have got to improve on your scheduling). In defense of Coach Miller and Michael Bishop, I can see the imprtance of pushing Michael to fight through his woes. The easiest thing would have been to yank him, but to force him to get it together and prove his worth I think may be a defining moment going into the playoff. GO RIDERS!
