Here's the video we're talking about on John Gormley Live this morning.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xbs7wXvh2Q

CTV’s Steve Murphy asked Mr. Dion Thursday: "If you were prime minister now, what would you have done about the economy and this crisis that Mr. Harper has not done?"

Dion doesn't seem to understand the question, and as a result requests that the interview is restarted - twice.

I don't quite buy the Liberal spin that this was all about Dion's hearing problems - he seems to be hearing everyone just fine, including the soft-spoken assistant who patiently tries to explain this seemingly simple question to Stephane.

The Tories jumped all over it, and are now being accused by some camps of bullying Dion.

So is this going to help Dion with pity votes (particularly out of Quebec); or hurt him, as many might see him as once again not looking like the sharpest tool in drawer?

God, would somebody please end this gong show.  Tuesday can't come soon enough.

Tammy Robert is the Executive Producer of 'The John Gormley Live Show' - listen live every weekday morning from 8.30am - 12.30pm on NewsTalk 650 or NewsTalk 980.

bullying Dion................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????if a wannabe prime minister can't take that questioning he shouldn't be running................................

Dion Screw-up

That was one of the funniest things I've seen in recent years. This is why we needed debates which are one on one. Then let people choose which ones they watch. It's obvious Dion has know idea what to do as Prime Minister.

CTV Mike Duffy has the whole

CTV Mike Duffy has the whole Dion question(s) and answer.

this is the

That's all we need is a

That's all we need is a prime minister that can't understand english in a predominatly english speaking country. Not having the ability to understand a simple question like that proves Dion is incompetant and is not capable of running this country. But of course his "Green Shift" plan has allready proven that point.

CTV's Steve Murphy for PM!

After watching this last night, I almost feel embarrassed for Dion. And good on Duff for standing up to Geoff Regan too. What I find interesting is that the Liberal spin machine is blaming this on CTV and accusing them of being sensational journalists. The truth is, the last 10 days or so, the media has barely challenged the Liberals on the economy and have been giving them a free pass. The so-called 30-day action plan really means there is no plan in place.
.
As a media outlet, kudos to CTV for NOT editing the tape. You don't edit a tape to a political party's satisfaction. After all, we don't live in Venezuela or Cuba. We must ask ourselves whether we want this man to become our leader. Thanks, but no thanks.
.
How about Steve Murphy for Prime Minister!

Actually

The TV networks DO edit Political interviews, the CTV is just picking and choosing which ones to show and which ones not to show

So you are wrong, CTV is showing the same bias that CBC is accused of.

I just wish we had a media outlet in this country we could trust to present non-opinionated facts.

CBC may or may not be as bad as some say, but for whatever is wrong with the CBC the EXACT same thing is wrong with the CTV except they have a different ideology.

Must feel could to get a healthy dose of feel good conservativisim with every news broadcast

Dion's gaffe

I watched the video last night. Even as a Conservative supporter I actually felt bad for Dion. He seemed tired and that may very well have been the case, but then again, they must all be exhausted after this long stretch. I don't believe it was his "hearing" problem. He seemed genuinely confused by the question, even after clarification. More than that, to me anyway, it seemed that he couldn't answer something that wasn't "set up" for him. Lately I've noticed that his answers are always the same...memorized...like a broken record and he doesn't stray far from what's written for him or it seems what's on his teleprompter ( in reference to the speech he made yesterday to the Chamber of Commerce in Halifax where he spent the first 5 minutes awkwardly saying thank you until they could get the teleprompter up and running). Now it seems that the best way for him to answer anything at all out of the usual requires "the big guns"...Rae, Iggy, Martin, Chretien.

As I said, I felt terrible for him last night. I found it hard to watch to be honest. That was until this morning when I find that it's suddenly turned into a Harper attack. You can bet that the Liberals would have been all over something like this had it been Harper making the gaffe!

What I think the question the voters should ask is...who will govern this country should the Liberals be lucky enough to win even a minority? Will it be Dion? or will he just be the face behind the PM tag and people like Rae, etc. will really be the "brains" behind his governing? Hmm...something to think about.

Dangerous Dion

Let's imagine, for just a terrifying moment that Dion is the Prime Minister of Canada. Let’s imagine him at meeting with the Russians and the Americans, discussing Arctic sovereignty. Imagine words like longitude and latitude and boundary come up, along with words like historically and during and before and after. Now imagine discussing Afghanistan troop deployment or withdrawals and words like prior and post and implementation come up. I could go on and on, but clearly, this man is not capable of running a corporation, never mind a country. If he couldn’t understand the context of a question he had already framed in his mind on several other occasions, there is no way he could hold his own on heady debates with world leaders. And I don’t think it really matters why.

not important

well i am not a dion fan, in truth im right of gromley, i see no story here. the leaders of all the parties are in stump election mode, to ask a question like this invites this type of reponse because their handlers have pound them and pound them stay on topic, platform platform. dion showed no anger and a sense of humor. well i will not share his political veiws my respect for him went up not down as a result of this. making poltical hay from this would like picking apart jean cretain lisp from the stroke, poor taste. and i who could not pass grade 12 french would not cast stone from my language glass house. god i cant beleive i just wrote this.
