John Himpe

Program Director - News Talk Radio

A Manitoban by birth, a temporary Albertan, and a proud Saskatchewanian for almost a decade now, you could say John is a bit of a prairie boy.

Since he was little, John wanted to be a broadcaster. In high school, his first job was as a master control operator / show editor / show producer for North Eastern Cablevision in Yorkton.

After high school, John went on to graduate from the Broadcast News program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Since then, he has anchored TV news in Swift Current and Yorkton, and has been a radio reporter in Regina. In 2003, John joined News Talk Radio as a show producer. He later moved on to become Assistant Program Director for News Talk, Program Director for our web division - Rawlco Interactive, and is now the Program Director for both News Talk 980 Regina and News Talk 650 Saskatoon.

His proudest career moments have come from working with the News Talk team on live coverage of breaking news (including the Esterhazy mine fire and the Peter Whitmore saga) and major news events (including Budget Day at the Saskatchewan Legislature and provincial election night coverage.)

When he's not at the radio station, you'll usually find John at the gym working off a little stress. He's also a huge geek... and is prone to purchasing anything that has an Apple logo on it.
