There are people who are votinge Yes? Why wouldn't we just abolish the money wasting election? Senators are just people who suck pension out of our taxes and do nothing to earn it. But, yet there are people who think electing tax suckers are a good idea? Brother.
This is another Conservative/Harper brainchild. The Senate should be left alone, period. It provides a sober second thought apart from worring about political gain or repercussions. The idea of Senate reform would also have to involve all of the provinces and let me assure you that there is No political appetite in eastern Canada for Senate reform. Mr. Wall and his crew are but puppets of Mr. Harper. Thank God Harper does not have a majority. Tom

The current senate is full of liberal puppets that reflect liberal views. They do not provide a second sober thought. That is why there is a call for senate reform.
Would you like a tissue... And the senate isn't currently filled with Liberal hacks... Only there to collect a chq and their not even there when they are supposed to be. Another PERFECT example of Liberal waste. Where can I get a job where I can show up less than 50% and still keep my job and get paid? Its time to reform the senate to elected officials that are responsible to their constituents and if they are not then they are replaced with someone else. No more with this "TILL DEATH DO WE PART" BS! And here's hoping Bob Rae & Michael Ignatieff, split the Liberal vote and another turnip gets elected Liberal Leader.

If the choice is either keeping it the way it is, or voting for senators from each province, then I agree with voting. However, the best solution is to abolish it altogether.

Ok I can't keep quiet about this anymore. we always here 300 Million dollars was the cost of the Election. Yes the total cost of the Election is 300 Million dollars and since electing Senators would occur at the same time as the normal federal election as it does in Alberta (which they do in protest to the current system) the additional cost will not double but marginally increase it so lets conservatively it will increase by 50 million dollars. so a total of 350 million dollars for the election approximately for electing senators. that works out to be $10 for every man woman and child in the country. 10 dollars every 4 years. Thats ten times less than what the liberal party stole from every man woman and child in canada which is the same party that people who complain about the cost of elections vote for. Look if it is going to cost me 10 bucks to keep robbers out of office I am good with that. SUCK IT UP PRINCESSES AND VOTE. You want to save money vote for a good party not the LPC which in 15 years has easily stolen 100 every 4 years.

yes, but
if we must have it, then yes, elected senate,
otherwise, and preferable, get rid of it !
Until they can become
Until they can become accountable and prove their usefulness, they are an absolute waste of taxpayer money.
