It's just another cash grab and for cops to have an excuse to not be patroling the streets. Years ago there used to be cops patrolling the sidewalks, checking business doors at night to make sure things were secure...there just was a more visible presence.

Cash grab - bull! I think by photo radar is a better than having critical police resources man radar traps. Cost changes behaviour - nab a few of these idoits with heavy fines and they will change their driving habits. Start with school zones, am tired of morons who scream through school zones passing me in the parking lane.

Won't do anything about speeds, but will increase rear end accidents from people slamming on brakes the millisecond they see the light turn yellow. Usually a frequent sight at Dewdney & Lewvan radar trap.
good idea, but first I would like to see the cameras on traffic lights put to work. At any intersection at any given time of the day or night people are running yellow and red lights.

It is a big revenue generator, but trust me, I lived in Edmonton in the 90's and people were scared to death of getting caught, so they drove slower. It does work. The bottom line is that you either agree with the speed limit or you don't. How it is enforced is not the issue.
Does it make sense to have more cops out with radar guns, or investigating property & violent crimes. Let the technology do the monkey work.

Lol thats a joke, you would have people slow down for the cameras then zoom driving fast again after them just like when you see a cop doing radar. Money grab all the way.

OK. Lets say it is a money grab... but who cares if you're not the one speeding. Its not coming out of your pocket. If it puts more cash in the police budget then that could turn into more officers down the road.
Compare it to shoplifting. If someone is watching you are you going to steal that candy bar? An educated person would say no but then there is always an exception to the rule. That goes for anything though.
