Business Owner Not Worried About VLT Cutback

A Saskatchewan pub manager says scaling back on VLTs will not make much of a difference

At least one Saskatchewan business believes the latest move by the Saskatchewan government is a step in the right direction.

Saskatchewan is looking to Nova Scotia to decide the best practice when it comes to Video Lottery Terminals. In 2006, Nova Scotia decided to reduce their number of VLTs by one third.

Chad Zipchin is the manager at the Last Straw Brew pub in Regina.

He feels cutting out all VLTs would affect his bottom line, but scaling back won't make much of a difference.

He says "people will still play them we will just have higher volume on less machines."

Zipchin adds it would show the government is concerned about the issue of gambling.

Our province, along with Manitoba, has the highest number of the machines per capita in Canada.
