One Man's Art...Another Person's Graffiti
Saskatoon man decorates sound barrier in different way
Take a drive down Warman Road in Saskatoon and it looks like a homeowner was hit by an amazing amount of graffiti. You might feel sad for the poor guy, but everything is not as it seems. He contracted out a crew of graffiti style artists to cover the private sound barrier. The move is causing some neighbors to raise their eyebrows Over the past 2 days, 5 people with cans of spray paint have transformed a regular looking sound barrier on Warman Road into what they call a work of art. Christine Flynn James with the North Park Richmond Heights Community Association says most people in the area may not love that type of art.

Warman Road painting on sound barrier
I am sure that the project was okayed by the owner and the owner in my estimation would not allow the common type of graffiti that is used in most cases such as the gangs use to deface private property such as garage doors etc. in private neighborhoods. I think this is good. Similar to murals in Moose Jaw and many other towns. Hire some of these guys to do different types of painting and the city would look much better. Get rid of the common type of graffiti.
Good for him. It is my
Good for him. It is my understanding that the home owner wanted the city to construct a sound barrier, but it would not. As a result, he constructed his own at his own expense. He can paint it or decorate it how ever he wishes. Since the city snubbed him, what better way to snub the city. Actually....it does look better than a grey cement wall.
Right ON!
Perhaps Rick Mercer could come to Saskatoon and do one of his rants there (always love looking at the Halifax high-end graffiti as he is walking through the inner city). This is art. Good for him - and how does the city decide who gets a sound barrier anyway. Those homes at that end of Warman need it more than those River Heights people did!!!!!
Saw this for the first time last night, I was impressed.
