Riders Take Labour Day Classic

Strong Defensive Effort Leads To Win
Story Tools

The Riders received arguably their best effort of the year from the defence as they get back to their winning ways. Thanks to four Luca Congi field goals. the Riders beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 19-6 in front of over 30-thousand fans to end their two game losing streak and put their record at 7-2. Michael Bishop struggled in his first game as the teams quarterback completing just 10 of 24 for 105 yards. His 9 yard run in the 2nd quarter was the game's only touchdown. The two teams meet again next weekend in Winnipeg.

Michael Bishop, positive sign

I really didn't think Michael Bishop struggled, he looked more composed than Kevin Glenn. I thought he really added the element of surprise. I thought the Bombers defense looked confused and struggled. Just imagine if Michael had our full complement of receivers.

Hmmm..Defense is playing at

Hmmm..Defense is playing at 200% or better and we win again...sounds like the same strategy that was used last year :-)
Any time our defense is at the top of their game we win.....by how much depends on the offence :-)
thanks for a great game again (all of you!) and I look forward to next weekend when our offense will be a little more experienced working together and I expect the winning point gap to be higher.
Great job!!
