Story Tools

Careless smoking led to that massive fire in northwest Regina yesterday.

The occupant of one of the condos was inside with his four year old daughter refilling a butane lighter when his lit cigarette ignited the butane vapour.

Preliminary damage estimates are pegged at between $2-$4 million dollars depending on whether the owner decides to repair or rebuild.

Damage is extensive to four second story suites, the rest of the block has suffered severe water and smoke damage.

Up to twenty families will be unable to return home.

Wow

how is it possible that someone could be so stupid and careless. I really hope at the very least this guy is charged with child endangerment because that is inexcusable.

WOW

Yes...child endangerment....I'm sure that if he's charged with that it will go a long way toward making those who lost possesions and their homes feel better. Get a grip.

Just goes to show how

Just goes to show how quickly something like that can get out of hand. I'm sure he had no idea he'd be facing an out of control fire, and feels terrible.
