Restore The Run

Miller Says More Emphasis To Be Placed on Ground Game
Story Tools

Riders head coach Ken MIller knows he must get more out of his running game Friday against Calgary. The Riders hardly ran the football without Wes Cates as they used  the all Canadian backfield of Neal Hughes and Stu Foord in Montreal last weekend. Miller says there will be more run plays called against the Stampeders this week although one of those backs Neal Hughes says the problem isn't the play calling its the physical play of the Riders which he says was lacking against the Alouettes thus causing no ground attack. Hughes and Foord will likely see some help from Hugh Charles. The diminutive back from Colorado will make his CFL debut Friday as a kick returner but Miller says he will likely get some plays on offence. Miller also revealing Regina born Chris Getzlaf will come off the injured list and start at receiver.

i just heard this... Durant, apparently has stated to TSN he doesnt want to be a rider next year!! Maybe coach should put some emphasis on the team of the future as well as today. Anyone with more info on this???

Yeah, I heard that too. He becomes a free agent next year, and probably won't stick around if he is not the starter. I don't know what it is with the riders, but we always seem to let the future prospects go and hold on to the duds (Case in point - how we let go of Henry Burris to keep Nealon Greene). I hope Tillman and Miller don't make a huge mistake and pick Bishop as our qb of the future.

Durant

Go with the youth for the future . Since I have been a rider fan , they have never brought a quarterback through the system and given a chance !
