Enbridge And Chiefs Talk

Protests results in meeting today in Saskatoon
Story Tools

At nine this morning at the Travelodge Hotel in Saskatoon, chiefs from the Treaty Six and Treaty Four areas of Saskatchewan meet with top executives from Enbridge.

The pipeline company is trying to put an end to the blockades first nations protesters have set up this week.  The protesters say Enbridge has not supplied enough consultation, wealth or employment from the construction of its pipeline that will move oil to the U.S. through Saskatchewan.

In a letter to the chiefs, Enbridge Vice President Byron Neiles says the company would agree to a government offer of a facilitator to help with the talks.  There is no word from the chiefs on whether they would accept that help.

i think it is nothing more

i think it is nothing more than public mischeif. think of the contractor ,,millions tied up in equipment, feul ,insurance, bills coming in on rental, bonding, securing workers, running out of weather.see this is something that someone that does'nt have to work for a living might not understand. if these so called cheifs wanted to do something good for their people they might grab aa shovel and try to work for a living instaed of always trying to get something for nothing.as far as stewards of the land , take a trip to a reserve, there is garbage everywhere, stoneyrapids is a good example, you would think pristine wilderness, wrong garbage everywhere, there are more pampers floating down the fond du lac river than you can imagine. there is suppose to be 15000 jobs in saskatchewan why arent natives working, then they don't have time to protest..

Why is it that people always

Why is it that people always comment on something they know nothing about. I wish Rick could live on a reserve. I would like for him to look for a job there. There are no opportunities for employment, this is the reason why there is a protest for JOBS!

I do not understand why people do not want to help each other! I would feel much better if I could help unemployed people find a job rather than complain about them.

I get a kick out of people

I get a kick out of people who post comments and don't seem to have a third grade level of grammar. Go back to school Rick.

Congrats Rick you could not

Congrats Rick you could not have said it any better. Tell me why the goverment is going to Ontario to find workers when we have thousands of people here sitting on welfare. It boggles my mind. Why are these chiefs not protesting the goverment for giving jobs to workers from Ont. I think they are worried if they did the goverment may actually give them a job and they wouldn't want that.

response to Rick..........

FIRST OF ALL CAN I ASK WHERE YOU WENT TO SCHOOL? I AM OFFERING YOU A SEAT IN ONE OF OUR FIRST NATIONS SCHOOLS WHERE YOU CAN GET A PROPER EDUCATION AND LEARN HOW TO SPELL. SECOND OF ALL I BELEIVE YOUR WRONG ABOUT THE MISCHEIF PART, LET ME GO TO WHERE YOU FAMILY IS BURIED AND LET ME DIG THEM UP SO I CAN PUT THAT PIPELINE THOUGH THERE AND THEN I WILL "PLANT" THEM HALF-ASSED DOWN AGAIN. NOW I KNOW YOU MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE STORY BUT BEFORE YOU TRY TO MAKE A JUDGEMENT CALL LIKE THE ONE YOU DID, GET ALL THE FACTS FIRST.

OH YEAH ONE MORE THING,

WHEN YOU FINISH SCHOOL AND LEARN HOW TO SPELL, I KNOW THE HUMAN RESOURCES AT SGI, WHOM IS AN INDIAN, MIGHT GIVE YOU THE CHANCE AT A REAL JOB OR YOU CAN COME TALK TO ME AN INDIAN WHO OWNS A COMPANY ALL OVER SASKATCHWAN,

SO ONE FINAL THING THERE RICK, PEOPLE LIKE YOU MEANING, STERO-TYPICAL PEOPLE, LOOK AT AT THE WHOLE STORY BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR TRAP.

LOVE:
DEAN KITCHEMONIA.
PROUD FIRST NATION WHO SUPPORTS THE PROTEST 110%.

Response to Dean
