Riders Create Three Way Tie For First In West
The Riders three game losing streak is over and so is Calgarys four game win streak. Saskatchewan outscores Calgary 37-34 in front of a sell-out crowd at the stadium to put themselves, Calgary and BC all with records of 9-5. Regina products continue to be huge for the football team. Last home game it was Stu Foord getting into the endzone and on this night, it was former Ram Neal Hughes scoring two touchdowns with another former Ram Chris Getzlaf recording his first ever touchdown. Michael Bishop threw for 242 yards and that touchdown to Getzlaf in what was his best overall game since joining the club.
Not all the news is good though. Head coach Ken Miller says center Jeremy O'Day has suffered a knee injury which is likely to end his season.
In a symbolic and classy gesture after the game, the Riders presented the game ball for the win to Regina Leader-Post sports writer Darrell Davis who has covered the football team for a number of years and his two sons. Earlier Friday, Davis and family laid his 51 year old wife Eva to rest after she died from a battle with breast cancer earlier in the week. Here is Tillman's announcement....

Riders Win
Sorry to hear about Jeremy O'Day. I hope the Riders find someone to play centre without disrupting the whole line. They'll play better if Makowsky stays at guard and they put in the backup centre.
Classy move by the Riders for Darrell Davis, one of the good guys...
Ok..now maybe Wray Morrison and Mitchell Blair can quit their dogged pursuit of quarterback controversies. Time to actually get off your butts and do some reporting instead of behind a microphone and inventing some problems for the Roughriders. It's obvious Bishop is the guy the Riders need to ride to the playoffs. Quit distracting him with questions about why he shouldn't be playing.
Class Act
Wow! That was class! The Riders come back from adversity and the game ball goes to one of the reporters that covers the team who is facing the ultimate in adversity. This team nows that winning and being successful takes more than just the guys on the field and Tilman just reminded them of that. I really liked that fact that on the TSN video it looked like every player supported his decission. That is class!
knee injury
Good job Riders!!
The Riders suffer yet another injury, who is O'days replacement? I read in the leader post a couple of weeks ago that Matt Dominguez had his knee surgury and it went well. The comment was that he may return this October because the knee was't as bad as originally thought. Can anybody back this?
Wow
Like many rider fans i was hopping for a win on friday night against the stamps, but with all the injurys to the team like many thought the riders was going to get hurt bad by the stamps, good job boys for the win if you play like that for the rest of the season the riders will be unstoppable with some stars back we hope.Calgary is going to be mad and ready for fight,do to the fact the riders won,and everyone even loyal rider fans thought it was going to be a long friday night, not because you are a bad team, you do have a lot of stars down and the quarterbacking was a question mark, good job for doing what you do best winning, when the chips are down, that has why i am a fan.
Bye for now, Good Luck.
Michael Bishop
Good thing that the Riders don't take advice from CJME sportscasters. If you plan on defending a championship, you do it with veteran quarterbacks, not two QBs who have a total of 150 CFL passes. But Morrison and Blair love to create that non-existent quarterback controversy.
