What Happened Under the Mosaic Stadium Stands Friday

Alleged Post-Game Incident Involving Stamps and Refs
Story Tools

The CFL has confirmed it is looking into an incident that happened after Friday night's game between the Riders and Stampeders involving some players and club personnel for the Stamps and one of the referees. It happened in the tunnel where both the visitors locker room and the referees room are located. The league will not say what players are involved at this time but that a statement will come out likely tomorrow.  The Stampeders were upset at game's end because they felt they should have been awarded possession of a short kick in the final minute that would have given them the ball back with a chance to tie or perhaps win the game.

Sure hope it's Browner suspended

Sure hope it's Browner suspended (he's the guy that claimed he tipped ball for onside kick). If he misses next game suspended vs Riders, we'll take it.

The play was reviewed and

The play was reviewed and the call was held up. Case closed. Maybe they should focus more on not needing an on-side kicks to have a chance at winning the game. Goes to show the level of class between the 2 teams.

Stamps

Calgary cry and whine almost as much as the b.c. kittens(whoops, I mean lions)The refs actually did make the right call for a change on that play.

I don't think so!

I watched that footage over and over and over again from many different angles..... guess what! The ref's got this one right. I know, I know, they've made a LOT of mistakes this year.... and quite often the Riders are on the wrong end of the bad calls. But Browner definitely did NOT touch that ball as the trajectory did not change at all as it passed by his hand..... Suspend him (if he was involved in the incident).

Stampeder Complaint

Its funny i happened to be at that game on Friday. And It almost looked like the ref actually helped the stamps somewhat. On Three separate occasions our punt returner was touched within the five yard range, which should be a no yards call. All three times no call. When we did it it was called both times, the one time offset by a holding call so it didnt look as bad. Then the Durant td is called back, when the replay clearly shows he got in. ANd the call they complained about was sent as a booth call, so the ref got video evidence to reverse the call and didnt see any video evidence to fix that error. So when i Hear the stampeders whine its not the refs fault we simply outplayed you. Get over it.
