Throne Speech Lays Out Tory Plan
A five-point plan to help Canada deal with the global financial crisis is the highlight of today's throne speech in Parliament.
In the speech, the Harper government promises sound budgeting to ensure the country avoids continuing deficits, but doesn't rule out deficits in the short-term.
It also commits to securing jobs through training and further support to the auto and aerospace industries.
The minority government also commits to global finance reform, expanded investment and trade, and making government more efficient and effective.
Other highlights include investment, competition and copyright laws will be modernized and the Government to work with international partners to examine and renew global financial rules.
