More Bitter Cold On First Day Of Winter
Winter is here. Officially.
A week-long cold snap drags on, but to this point, all the snow and frigid weather had come during fall.
But it is now winter, according to the calendar. The solstice dropped by at 6:04 Sunday morning.
It's the shortest day of the year, and it very well may be one of the coldest. Bone-chilling temperatures combined with bitterly cold winds have gripped almost all of Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada issued a wind chill warning last evening, and that continues today. Temperatures around the minus 30 mark coupled with a breeze from the northwest is producing wind chills well into the minus 40s. With such extreme conditions, exposed skin can freeze in a matter of minutes.
