Regina Home Sales Break Records
Regina is breaking records when it comes home sales, even with a recession elsewhere in the country.
Home sales for the month of May in the Regina region hit $101.9 million, which broke a previous record of $84.3 million by 21%.
It was fueled by an increase in price for the average home, which now sits at $266,743 within the city, $263,424 in other areas.
And while this means that some people are being priced out of the market, the Association of Regina Realtors, Gord Archibald, argues there are some positives.
"We have to bear in mind though that with interest rates being where they are right now, all time lows, that's allowing people to move up in the marketplace and as well as first time buyers to come in."
The number of homes sold in May compared to this time last year also jumped 14%, at 344.
