Celebrating the 1989 Grey Cup

Will take place during Saturday's game
Story Tools

It's arguably the greatest Grey Cup of all time.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders versus the Hamilton Tiger Cats back in 1989.   Kent Austin to Jeff Fairholm for a 75 yard score.   And of course Dave Ridgway kicking the winning field goal.

Those are just two of many great plays from the game.  And you'll be able to re-live the memories this weekend as the club honours the 43-40 win during Saturday's game against Edmonton at Mosaic Stadium. VP of Marketing and Sales for the Riders, Steve Mazurak, says a lot of old faces are coming back,

"We've have over 35 players coming back, as well as a number of executives, doctor's, administration people.  So there will be close to 70 people coming back."

Also in attendance will be favorites like Jeff Fairholm, Mark Guy, Ray Elgaard, and Tom Burgess. Fans are encouraged to come early as those players and other's, will be signing autographs in the practise facility prior to the game.

If you're looking for tickets, you'll have to go the way of E bay. The game is sold out.

Really? This getting beyond

Really? This getting beyond corny. I am so sick of hearing about the Riders all year around. I couldn't be paid enough to go this blast-from-the-past and watch a bunch hillbillies drinking their own bathwater celebrating the beginnings of their beer bellies 20 years ago.
This over analyzed team is such a detriment to other sports teams and events in the province. It's tough to get publicity when every sports show has endless hours of useless Rider's updates.
Go Bombers!

Yes well, it's easy to

Yes well, it's easy to understand your bitterness, your team not having won a Grey Cup since Grant Devine was Premier around here. And then to see the Riders winning while your team stumbles....year after year...

Bitter

With that lunatic of a coach the Bombers have, I can forgive this gentleman/lady for his/her bitterness with the world today.

Must be frustrating to be a Bomber fan

Not having won a Grey Cup since 1990 (whoa!), and having your 14-4 team choke in the 2001 championship to an 8-10 Calgary squad, I can understand your frustration. Oh well, there's always next year, right? LOL!!!!

Winnipeg: The gateway to where you'd rather be!

They would have a Bombers GC

They would have a Bombers GC reunion, but is there anyone alive from the last time they won?? Are you Milt Stegall????
