Balloon Down!

Saskatoon Police help with hot air-craft's emergency landing
Story Tools

What goes up... Must come down.

The old cliche was no more apparent than to the occupants of a hot air balloon last night over Saskatoon.  The craft ran into some problems and was forced into an emergency landing, with the help of police.

Alice Farness saw the struggling balloon go down.

"I was sitting on my deck and I looked over to the east and I could see the top of the CTV balloon just above the 7-Eleven."

She says the balloon came down safe and sound next to the SGEU building at 22nd Street and Avenue L.

Police directed traffic and helped to guide the balloon to the impromptu landing pad.  The balloon was quickly collapsed and rolled up before any more problems could pop up.
