SaskTel Announces Price Change
Come November, SaskTel's rural customers are about to see a change on their bills. Prices are going up.
At the same time, long distance rates are coming down for all customers, depending on their plan with SaskTel.
SaskTel has applied to increase local calls for those customers living outside of Saskatchewan's nine major centres. It follows a price cap decision by the CRTC that SaskTel appealed. But about forty percent of those affected by this price hike will have it offset by the reduction in long distance ratesm according to SaskTel's Michelle Englot. "The long distance is definitely a competitive line of business and we do have to look at what others are doing as well," she says.
The rural price changes impact about 162,000 customers who live outside of Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Estevan, Prince Albert, Yorkton and North Battleford.

Thanks for trying to put a good spin on your displeasure of having rural customers, but you failed miserably, Sasktel. "A decrease in long distance rates"....hmmm, that would be good, if I didn't already have bundles!!!!!

Huh? You will still save 2 bucks a month if you have bundles..

Why are you rural customers
Why are you rural customers complaining still. By now you should realize that you are in the minority of phone service users. SaskTel doesn't care what you think or what you can aford.......oh the sarcasm.
Other than the big cities,
Other than the big cities, small town Saskatchewan are barely hanging on. Open Your Eyes Brad Wall.....there is NO Boom in most small towns are you are gouging the crap out of us. We are struggling to make ends meet now and your crown corporation decides to hit us again?????? From our second class health care systems to our extra charge for rural living for rural communities there is being a defined line being drawn in the sand and come next provincial election will most definetly be swaying my vote!
Move to one of the nine
Move to one of the nine major centers than if you think rural has it so tough.
The reality is that rural
The reality is that rural service is more expensive to maintain than in the urban centers. It's reality folks, it's not personal, it's not another "attack on rural Saskatchewan", or any other of the "poor me" lines we get from rural Saskatchewan every time the cost of something goes up. If that's where you choose to live, then pay what it costs for the service, stop whining and get on with life. If you can't handle that, then move to the city so you can save the $7-$8 a month on your bill.
So here we go again. We pay
So here we go again. We pay more for power to come to the rural energy too. Now phone sevice is costing more. Guess what this puts the the topping on cake. I live close to the city so I will just have my phone service cancelled and use my Rogers cell phone. No more sixty dollar phone bills for maybe 6 calls a month on Sasktel phone.
Good Lord people! It's
Good Lord people! It's called the cost of living. Really, .79 to $1.39 a month. Get over it and appreciate that when you need to make the phonecall, either an emergency or not..it's there for you!!
