Military Gaining Fans At Grey Cup Festival
It might be the only time you see the driver of a military vehicle wearing a Riders jersey and the cockpit of a fighter jet packed with Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans.
It's the final day of fun before Sunday night's Grey Cup game.
Lt. Peter Stocker says the past four days have been great. Downtown, everyone is in a jovial mood and the soldiers doing PR work aren't immune. The fact that their uniforms are green helps.
"All the Riders fans think we're for them. There's the occasional Alouettes fan sneaking around here in a Canadian Forces uniform," Stocker says.
Like many people taking in the festivities, Stocker can't hide a smile and says you can't ignore the good times going on. The soldiers taking part in Grey Cup events have been taking a ton of pictures to send to their friends serving overseas.
